As we kick off the second volume of the first  issue of our magazine, I realize how little I actually knew about everything managed service providers can actually do.  For my business of SEO and Web Marketing I am certainly aware of the benefits associated with marketing your business on the internet well.  But I am pretty sure that what most including myself are not clear on, is the financial benefits that enhance the partnership of your business with a managed service provider.  For me in my business the benefit in dollars is more than obvious. 

You know your business the best and as such your best actions in a day are focused around the core functions of  it with the least amount of distractions taking you away from those core functions.  If you count the amount of distractions in a day and figure in the amount of time spent on these other distractions, how much time do you spend tending to what I like to call “non – income generating tasks”?  Efficiency has become a foreign word to many of us who have a tendency to take on way too many responsibilities and end up doing none of them well.   

I figured in my business with a more efficient system where I am only handling core elements of my profession which first of all sounds so simple…  what would I do with all my time….Hah!  (insert laugh here) Well considering I could take on twice as many clients handling only the core functions of my business ……(another laugh here) I’d make a lot more money,  that’s what I’d do!  My point is that it seems, we have somehow become attached to the menial tasks that take up our day and have a hard time letting them go,  but I encourage you to imagine for a moment one day where all you did was focus on the core elements of your business, using only the professional skills for what that business was built upon. 

Are you by chance imagining how much extra time you would have? or how much more fun a single workday would be, or how you could finally tend to some very important goals within your company and maybe put some ideas into motion that you’ve had in your mad rush to learn IT in an effort to keep your company’s internet connection stable at best.  Well congratulations non productive tasks have now grown on you like moss on a rock…..Ugghh!
