MANAGED SERVICE PROVIDERS: WHY YOU SHOULD HIRE ONE FOR YOUR BUSINESS

12 February 2010 271 views View Comments

Every day in business you are faced with countless decisions. Do you say no to the latest merger offer? Should you offer your latest product in flaming red or stick to basic black? Everything that you decide may expand your business or damage it in some way. Every aspect of your business is influenced and impacted by the decisions that you make every day. One of the biggest areas that you will be dealing with is in the realm of telecommunications. If you have never dealt with new telecom contracts and companies there are two possible reasons why: either you have found the perfect telecom company and are perfectly satisfied with the service, the technology and the price that you are paying or you are just scared beyond all belief of trying to deal with the carriers and their persuasive, high pressure sales reps. If it is the latter, it is time to consider using Managed Service Providers instead.

The advantage of using a Managed Service Provider for your business is huge; you save time and money that can be better spent on other aspects of your business. Unless you like to try to negotiate deals with multiple carriers in multiple locations, using a Managed Service Provider is just more sensible.  Managed Service Providers are not tied to a particular telecommunications carrier, meaning that they work for you, the client. They do not need to get you to sign to one carrier over another for commissions. They can get the best deal for you by talking to all of the carriers without being stuck with one over another. While you may be able to get one price quoted to you from a carrier, Managed Service Providers may be able to drive that number even lower, making it even more advantageous to use them.

The advantage of Managed Service Providers is also the protection from high pressure sales tactics. You can tell the Managed Service Provider what your communication needs are and then let them deal with the carrier’s reps. If you were doing these negotiations, you would be dealing with a veritable onslaught of new technologies and suggestions on how to upgrade and deal with your needs. By the time that you are finished, you may be convinced that you are not handling your needs correctly and need to upgrade and add. In the end, you may find that you have signed up for more telecommunications than you really need.

In addition to the time savings, you will save money by using Managed Service Providers. They will be able to get better deals for you than you could for yourself.  As a representative with potential to bring carriers more business, Carriers often give preferential rates, or service to Managed Service Providers.  These benefits can then be passed on to their customers.
